Tired Of Irresponsible Tri-State Window Replacement Providers? There’s Another Way.

It Cost Us Big Bucks, But We Weren’t About
To Make Tony Pay For An Ordering Mix-Up
During His Tri-State Window Replacement
Taking Full Responsibility Is Just How We
Do Business Here At Window Shopping
During a Tri-State window replacement, you naturally want everything to go according to plan. However, no one is infallible, and contractor mistakes are always possible.
In these situations, not all window companies respond in the same way. Some try to wriggle out of their responsibilities, while others admit their missteps and hold themselves accountable.
As Tony J. discovered, the team at Window Shopping always stands tall.
On his recent project, we incorrectly ordered a few windows. Rather than making excuses for the mix-up, we got to work putting things right.
It cost us a bit of time and a lot of money, but soon the project was back on track. And the increase in Tony’s expenses? Not one single dime.
Tony Sets Up His Window Replacement Project
A while back, Tony asked us to replace some of the windows in his Tri-State home. The job was substantial and included windows in several different spaces, including a couple of bedrooms.
Tony’s preference for the project? Casement windows.
Windows of this type typically have side-mounted hinges. They also open outward, rather than vertically. In addition, they’re opened via a hand crank.
There are several reasons why a homeowner might choose casement windows, including their:
- Ability to provide unobstructed views
- Excellent ventilation capabilities
- Relative ease of operation
- Energy efficiency
Casements are also known for their design versatility. What’s more, they don’t open as wide as many types of windows. This means they can be used to enhance your home security.
A Mistake In Ordering His Replacement Windows
Despite their many potential benefits, casement windows aren’t that popular in the Tri-State area. Even as leading local contractors, we just don’t get many requests for them.
Requests for casement window replacements in bedrooms are even less common. In fact, we’d literally never received one before.
As it turned out, this lack of familiarity led us to make a significant oversight.
Regulations For Casement Windows In Bedrooms
The issue? There are special rules in our area for casement windows located in bedrooms.
These rules state that normal casements can’t always be used. Instead, at least one of the casements in each bedroom must be an egress or easement window.
What does this mean? Windows in this category open wide enough to function as exits during fires or other household emergencies.
Bedrooms that don’t have an egress window don’t meet local building codes.
Ordering The Wrong Windows For The Project
Unfortunately, we overlooked this vital fact while ordering Tony’s replacement windows. This meant that all the new windows were in the standard casement format.
When orders come in at Window Shopping, we always double-check to ensure everything is as it should be. It was during this process that we discovered our mistake.
Frankly, we’re always disappointed in ourselves when we make these kinds of errors. We also take full responsibility for what we’ve done.
Which meant it was now time to address the situation ASAP.
Getting The Window Project Back On Track
There was only one remedy for the mix-up – ordering new windows at no extra cost to Tony.
This wasn’t going to come cheap. Quite the contrary. The expense would be sizable.
However, the fault was ours, not his, and there was no other responsible solution.
Would every local window company handle things in the same way? Possibly not, but that was irrelevant. As industry leaders, we hold ourselves to a higher standard.
It took some extra time for the egress windows to arrive. But once they did, it was smooth sailing all the way to the project’s completion.
